Labels are colored tags for tasks. They answer questions that columns and assignees don't: Is this a bug or a feature request? Does it concern a specific customer? Is it about invoicing? A task can carry as many labels as you like.
In CIRO NOISE, labels always belong to one board. The Website board has different labels from the HR board, which keeps every list tidy. You manage them in the board settings or add them straight on the task.
How labels work in CIRO NOISE
Type a label on a task that doesn't exist on the board yet and CIRO NOISE creates it. You can change name and color at any time in the board settings. Upper and lower case don't matter when matching: “bug” and “Bug” are the same label.
Use the filter bar to show only tasks with certain labels. Group the board by label and each label gets its own swimlane. A task with several labels appears under its first one, so it never shows up twice.
An everyday example
A small social media team plans posts on the SOC board. The labels “FORMAT: Reel”, “FORMAT: Carousel” and “FORMAT: Story” form a group because they start with the same word and a colon. In the board calendar, the team colors entries by that group. Now they can see at a glance that this week has three reels planned and not a single story.
Label groups versus custom fields
When several labels start with the same word and a colon, such as “Area: Office” and “Area: Warehouse”, CIRO NOISE treats them as a group. The board calendar can take its colors from a group like that.
Labels suit free tags where a task may have several. When every task needs exactly one value, such as a cost center or a date, a custom field on the board is the better fit.
